Mayor is in his Bunker waiting for the end, Croydon Advertiser March 2008

The threat to our local post offices, while in itself an alarming risk to the infrastructure of our communities, is I feel part of a larger threat to local services in Croydon and Sutton.  We have seen the ridiculous notion from the Metropolitan Police, under Mayor Livingstone's watch, that closing police stations will improve services.

We have seen the patently ill-thought-out proposals to close smaller GP practices and set up super surgeries.

The Government also seems hell bent on giving an already obsessive Mayor of London more planning powers over developments.

Our local transport infrastructure is crying out for more investment from Transport for London (TfL), and on many of our regeneration schemes, the London Development Agency is silent.

Again and again the present Mayor crouching in his bunker, waiting for the end, knows best, and we in outer London are ignored.

As Conservative London Assembly candidate for Croydon and Sutton, I will continue to be a fierce, unrelenting advocate for local services for local people and a fair deal for Croydon and Sutton.
